New Ceramic-Metallic Materials for Choke Valves in Oil Production

N/A

The present paper gives a short review of the research work and the results used as a basis for the indicated cost reduction. Only tungsten carbide grades are dealt with in the paper since earlier erosion testing has shown that this type of material has a suitable combination of fracture toughness and erosion resistance. Pure ceramic materials are still considered too brittle and all metallic materials are too soft for this service.
